Formation and Early Recognition

  • Orienteering Club Jhansi was established as part of the expanding network of orienteering clubs in India under the umbrella of the Dhyan Chand Foundation and the wider community promoting orienteering in the country.

Skills Camp & Training Sessions
  • The club organized a dedicated orienteering camp in Jhansi, which saw participation from 40+ enthusiastic members.

  • This camp focused on building core navigation and map-reading skills — key foundations of orienteering as a sport blending navigation with physical endurance.

First Jhansi Open Orienteering Challenge
  • One of the club’s major flagship events was the “First Jhansi Open Orienteering Challenge”, held at the Senior Railway Institute, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.

  • This challenge brought together participants to experience organized orienteering courses in a competitive environment — a significant step in putting Jhansi on the orienteering map.

Participation in Other Regional Championships
  • Members of Orienteering Club Jhansi have also participated in orienteering championships outside Jhansi, such as the Baran Orienteering events in Rajasthan, which have been highlighted on social profiles associated with the club.

Specialized Training Initiatives
  • Beyond general camps and races, the club has organized specialized compass and navigation training programs aimed at selected promising runners. The focus of these sessions is to boost technical orienteering skills like route choice and control point strategy.

Community Engagement and Growth Activities
  • Through social media (e.g., their Instagram presence), the club has been promoting:

    • Interactive orienteering games and introductory activities at different venues in Jhansi.

    • Club representation at regional events, demonstrating the sport to broader audiences and inspiring local participants to get involved. Instagram
